Malden Reads
5/28/2015 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Hello Malden Reads Enthusiasts,
A reminder that the “Henrietta” staged reading will be performed one week from today! This is the next level for the staged reading based on our 2014 selection, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot (folks may remember that we had an early staged reading as our November 2014 dessert theater event).
We are so pleased to extend this invitation to all of our Malden Reads enthusiasts from the playwright, Licia Sky. She was so inspired working with us on the original production, and so energized and motivated by our reaction to the performance in Malden this past November, that she wanted to include us in the next steps.
Next week’s staged reading will be part of the opening event for the Annual Boston Trauma Conference:
Henrietta
Thursday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Cost is $20 per person
Seaport World Trade Center
200 Seaport Blvd.
Boston, MA 02210
And, the next step to moving the production forward is securing additional funding. Licia and her team are asking for support to develop the project further – they need help covering costs for rehearsal space and stipends for performers (the funding goal is $6,000). If you are able, please consider supporting the project (any donation large or small is truly appreciated!). Checks should be made out to Writing Allies, with “Henrietta Project” in the subject line. The address is:
Writing Allies/Henrietta
PO Box 180501
Boston, MA 02118
Hope to see you there, and thank you for all your support!
