Malden High in the Digital Age
4/30/2015 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
"Malden High in the Digital Age" features TED & TED-style talks, exhibits, reflection & more
Thursday, April 30, 7:00 p.m.
Malden High School in collaboration with Malden Reads will host a community event entitled “Malden High in the Digital Age” on Thursday, April 30 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Malden High School. Community members of all ages are invited to attend. The evening will feature TED (and TED-style) talks, discussion, and a walk-through exhibit of new technology and “digital age” programs being used by students at Malden High.
Inspired by this year’s Malden Reads book selection “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-hour Bookstore,” by Robin Sloan, the evening will examine the new initiatives at Malden High School, show off their promise and potential, and spur reflection on the use of technology in student lives and its impact on the future for all of us.
Malden High representatives will present their own 3 minute TED-style talks in the Jenkins auditorium on subjects such as the Hub for Technovation to promote girls in technology, The Blue & Gold archiving and 100 year magazine, the Google 1:1 Chromebook Initiative, Digital Literacy for ELL students, Garage Band and Podcasts in the Classroom, Computer Club and others. Attendees can then visit these spaces and hear from the students who use them. Several official TED talks on technology will also be screened in the auditorium throughout the evening to spur on discussion and reflection. Light refreshments will be available.
We hope you can join us. Please help spread the word!
