Malden Warming Center Volunteer training
11/23/2019 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Make a difference in our community: volunteer with the Malden Warming Center.
On Saturday, November 23rd, join us from 10am-1pm as we go through policies and procedures, volunteer responsibilities, conflict intervention, NARCAN training, and some basic first aid information.
In 2020 the Malden Warming Center will be open every night for the months of January-March. Every night we'll need volunteers of all sorts:- Transportation volunteers to ride in the van as we picked up guests between 7-9pm, and possibly drop them off in the morning from 6-7am,- Kitchen volunteers to prep and serve meals from 7-9pm and 5-6:30am,- Overnight volunteers in three shifts: 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m.-2:30 a.m., and 2:30 a.m.-6:30 a.m. All volunteers must attend training for the new year as some policies have changed.  The Malden Warming Center (MWC) seeks to serve those experiencing homelessness by providing safe shelter and warmth during the winter months, recognizing each person’s inherent dignity and unique circumstance.
The MWC is to be a temporary night center for those that are homeless. It is a safe place of warmth during the harshest winter months. The WMC welcomes people experiencing active substance abuse and offers safe storage (no search) of the individual’s belongings, a place of warmth, comfort, hot drinks and warm soup. As much as possible warm clothing will be available and the staff will work to connect individuals to additionally needed services including more permanent housing, substance use treatment, and/or health/mental health services.
Thank you for making Malden a better place for all of us to live.
