Stock Pot aka "Polka Dot Kitchen!" 342 Pearl St Starting Tuesday, November 29th 11:00AM to 12:00PM Each Tuesday from 11am to 12:00pm, we hold a standing open house for people interested in applying to join our Culinary Incubator, which comes with a rental contract to use our licensed commercial kitchen and access to continual in-house consulting services related to business development, accounting and bookkeeping, permitting and regulatory support, and marketing and brand identity. We start with a quick overview of our services and application processes, followed by a tour of the facility, and then an optional Q&A with our operations staff. Interested applicans are strongly encouraged to stay for the Q&A. Preferential consideration will be given to those who bring application materials with them to Open House, including: - A one-page BUSINESS PLAN - A one-page OPERATION OVERVIEW (process flow for food, delivery process, etc) Please bring a hat to wear and any application materials you wish to prepare. Those who come with application materials are always given the highest consideration. Entrepreneurs at all stages are welcome, especially if you (a) are passionate and (b) arrive on time! ;) FAQs What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? We are a 10-minute walk from the Malden Center T Stop (Orange Line). For cars, we ask that you park on the street on Pearl Street, though NOT directly in front of the building (we enforce commercial loading zone procedures at all times). It is rare to have to park more than 2 blocks down from our building. Please make sure not to block our neighbors' driveways. What should I bring to the event? A hat or other hair covering/restraint, as required by the food code; please ensure that long or loose hair is fastened or able to be tucked into a hairnet.. Crying Thaiger Dinner 114 Ferry Street - Make your reservation! Hope you can make this re-scheduled date for the Community Dinner at Crying Thaiger. Enjoy authentic Thai food in a rustic setting with fellow community members. "Table Talk" cards will be provided to help incorporate discussion around the themes of this year's book selection. You do not need to have read the book to attend. Diners will be offered a special menu for the evening with plenty of options. There will be a choice of appetizer, followed by either a soup or salad, and an entree. There should be something for everyone-vegan, gluten free, not spicy, spicy, and very spicy. Click here to see the menu. The fixed-price meal is $20 and does not include beverages, dessert or tip. Each diner will receive their own check. Crying Thaiger does not yet have a liquor license. Parking is available on the street or across the street in the lot behind the Dockside restaurant. Seating is limited so reservations MUST be made in advance. Stigliano finds joy in the uniqueness and versatility of oil paint. S.M. teaches oil painting at Pine Manor College. She also finds printmaking and sketching to be influential mediums. In describing his style, C.A. Stigliano said, “I make a lot of stuff for a lot of different reasons, and I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out if what I was making was ‘Art.’ Whether it is a wood carving that started out as a bear and ended as a woman with a cat on her head, or something of the like.”

Pizza for "Patina" Readers

Dockside 229 Centre Street Malden Reads is hosting an event over April vacation for children related to the companion book "Patina" by Jason Reynolds. Malden children who have read or are interested in reading "Patina" are invited to come and meet others who have read the book. Malden High School students will lead discussions and activities, including teaching students about running track, leading an arts & crafts activity, and more. There will be raffle prize baskets that the children can win. Pizza and soft drinks will be served to children. Students in the Malden schools are able to read "Patina" in their classes, and the book is available for check-out from the Malden Public Library. This event is co-sponsored by Malden CORE and Ward 5 School Committee member Tara Murphy Beardsley. Space is limited, so we ask that families please RSVP to maldenreads@gmail.com so we may plan for pizza and seating. There is no cost to participate.

Come and celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up the Northern Strand Community Trail (aka the Malden Bike Path). This event is a partner event between the cities of Everett and Malden. Volunteers from Everett will be cleaning the Everett side of the bike path and volunteers from Malden will clean a section of the bike path in Malden from Main Street to the Everett border. ABOUT THE EVENT: Community members can learn the basics studio production in this four-part class that covers both the technical use of MATV’s digital studio and the production planning needed to put together a studio-based program. Students will learn all the various positions: camera, floor directing, audio, switching, media tech, lighting, graphics and directing. Students will put together and shoot a program to be shown on the channel in their last session. By attending all four classes, participants will become certified as an MATV studio producer and are encouraged to help out on a studio production held at MATV. MATV orientation is a prerequisite. This program is taught by MATV staff. Attendees must pay the fee by mail or in person in order to officially register for the class.

Malden Reads is pleased to host a film screening of the animated film "Inside Out." At 6:00 pm, light refreshments will be served, and a family arts & crafts activity will begin at that time. The movie will begin at 6:30 pm. Ferryway School 150 Cross Street
"Inside Out" is the story of an 11-year old girl named Riley (voice of Kaitlyn Dias) as she moves with her family across the country, and Riley's emotions throughout her move to her new home and school. For more on the movie and its cast visit this page. On behalf of the Malden Kiwanis, Malden Reads will also be collecting gently used and new children's books to be distributed to local youth at an event called "Bubbles and Books" in June. Books can be brought to this event or dropped off at MATV, 145 Pleasant Street, during their business hours. "Inside Out" won both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film in 2016, a Kids' Choice award, an MTV award, as well as many others. We hope that Malden families will also enjoy this movie!

ABOUT THE EVENT: Community members can learn the basics studio production in this four-part class that covers both the technical use of MATV’s digital studio and the production planning needed to put together a studio-based program. Students will learn all the various positions: camera, floor directing, audio, switching, media tech, lighting, graphics and directing. Students will put together and shoot a program to be shown on the channel in their last session. By attending all four classes, participants will become certified as an MATV studio producer and are encouraged to help out on a studio production held at MATV. MATV orientation is a prerequisite. This program is taught by MATV staff. Attendees must pay the fee by mail or in person in order to officially register for the class.
