Malden Arts Annual Meeting
5/12/2016 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Malden Arts Invites Community to May 12 Annual Meeting
Dave Waller Will Be Featured Speaker
Malden Arts will hold its annual meeting on Thursday May 12 at 7:00 PM in the Maccario Room of the Malden Public Library. Everyone is welcome to attend. After a brief business meeting, featured speaker Dave Waller will share thoughts on being an artist at work and at home.
As in past years, the group will hold a silent auction of works from local artists. For more information about the silent auction or to arrange to submit work, artists should email Naomi Kahn at naomikahn617@gmail.com.
Malden resident Dave Waller founded and leads Brickyard VFX, a versatile business that creates visual effects for television, film and Internet. The Boston-based Brickyard VFX began operations in 1999 and recently relocated its growing Atlantic office to larger quarters in the Leather District. Waller described himself this way:
"Dave Waller was born into a long line of relatives who like old stuff. He bought his first antique (a rusty sap boiler) at an auction when he was seven and started collecting old signs at age nine. Collecting big old stuff means you need a lot of space, so after Dave married graphic designer Lynn Riddle, they bought a burnt-down fire station from the City of Malden and transformed it into a home, earning an Historic Preservation Award for the effort. The fire station's basement serves as a neon sign repair shop with metal, electrical and glass bending equipment. The rest of the building is display space for restored signs and living space for the family."
About Malden Arts
