Fairy House Event
8/29/2015
Saturday, August 29
(Rain Date: Sunday, August 30), Time – TBD
Pine Banks Park, Sponsored by Councillor Barbara Murphy
We all need a break from technology and a chance to connect with the natural world. Fairy Houses are structures for fairies and nature’s other friends (hobbits, elves, gnomes, trolls) to visit. Sticks, bark, dry grasses, pebbles, shells, feathers, seaweed, pine cones and nuts are just some of the natural materials that can be used. Ranging from simple structures to intricate mansions and villages, these whimsical habitats are built by children, families, gardeners and nature lovers reflecting their creativity, joy and pride.
Join us and build a house at the event or plan ahead and design and pre-build your structure. Individuals and groups of all ages are welcome to enter houses into a contest that will take place that day.
Inspired by Tracy Kane’s award winning Fairy House Series. Visit fairyhouses.com to see beautiful images of fairy houses and learn about the book series.

Hello MATV members and friends,
It's been a busy summer with our annual Kids Video Adventure workshop, recording our "Meet the Candidate" spots for the upcoming election, ongoing member programs, Neighborhood View stories, staff professional development and planning for our future! Stay tuned for news updates by email and a print newsletter coming in September.

Please note that MATV will be CLOSED to the public beginning next Monday through Labor Day, August 31 - September 7, and will re-open with our regular hours on Tuesday, September 8. We will be cleaning out the MATV basement and we will be re-carpeting our lobby, hallway, and stairs.

We would really appreciate any volunteer help on Monday, August 31 & Tuesday, September 1 from 11am - 1pm to help break down boxes and lug stuff out of the basement. Work along with the staff & be treated to a casual lunch afterwards! Email anne@matv.org if you can help out.
We look forward to seeing you in any capacity.

Best regards,
The Staff of MATV
