Memorial Stone
9/16/2016 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Mayor Christenson and the Stadium Commission invite members of the public to the rededication ceremony of the Torbert Hart Macdonald Memorial Stone on Friday, September 16th at 6:30 PM at Macdonald Stadium on Pearl Street. Due to the impending demolition of Malden City Hall, the memorial stone dedicated in 1984 by the Italian Heritage Society in “Torby” Macdonald’s honor must be relocated. It will be moved to the Macdonald Stadium facility and will be placed alongside the memorial stone of Torbert’s late father, John G. “Jack” Macdonald, for whom Macdonald Stadium is named. As Torbert Macdonald served his country during World War II with honor and distinction, it is fitting that September 16th is also the anniversary of National POW/MIA (Prisoner of War/Missing in Action) Recognition Day. The rededication ceremony will precede the Malden v. Peabody Varsity Football game. Members of Congressman Torbert Macdonald’s family will be in attendance.
