Celebrating Chinese New Year

First Parish in Malden and Saugus celebrates Chinese New Year, Feb. 7. The First Parish in Malden and Saugus celebrates the Chinese New Year on Sunday morning, Feb. 7, at the 10:30 worship service. The service features erhu vituoso, Lin Zhantao; the Wah Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy, performing the traditional Lion Dance; and guzheng artists, Megan Savoy and her father Philip. Mr. Lin and the Savoy family are residents of Malden, and the Wah Lum Academy is based in Malden. The Rev. Jackie Clement leads the service. A buffet luncheon, catered by “Boston’s Best” award-winner, Fuloon Restaurant in Malden, follows in the Fellowship Hall. A $6 donation for adults and $4 for children is requested for the luncheon. Students of the Wah Lum Academy perform a Kung Fu demonstration during the luncheon. Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided at no charge from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Religious education for young children begins at 10:30. The First Parish in Malden and Saugus is a Unitarian Universalist congregation serving the liberal religious community of Malden, Saugus, and Everett. The church is located in Malden at Elm and Pleasant Streets (Route 60), three blocks west of the Malden Center T station. Annual Valentine Brunch

The Junior Aid Association of Malden's Annual Valentine Brunch will take place this Sunday, February 7th from 12-4 pm at the Malden Senior Community Center, 7 Washington Street. Tickets are $40 and the proceeds will be used to aid local organizations.
