Members, guests and dignitaries gathered at Anthony’s in Malden on Oct. 1 to install officers and board members for the 2017-18 Kiwanis year. Tana Tselepis, who was born and raised in Malden and is an alumna of Malden High School, was in installed as president by John Maihos. Maihos is current New England and Bermuda district secretary, former district governor and immediate past president of the New England Foundation of Kiwanis. Other notable Kiwanians attending were Paul Donato, D-Medford, Steve Ultrino, D-Malden, and Mayor Gary Christianson. School Committee members Lenny Iovino and John Froio, both Malden Kiwanians, also attended.
Officers installed for 2017-18 year are: Marilyn Holland, immediate past president; Dawn Fitzgerald and Robin Jorgensen, co-presidents-elect; Jordan Shapiro, Vice president; Alexander Dan, secretary; Maureen Lucey, assistant secretary; Robert Moro, treasurer; and Lenny Iovino, assistant treasurer. Board Members installed were Lorraine Danca, Bernie Hardy, Colleen DuBois, Joseph Danca, John Froio, Lisa Mendelson, Christine Bombaci and Virginia Moro. Tselepis was awarded a red jacket by the Club. The red jacket represents a $1,000 donation to the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute at Tufts’ Floating Hospital for Children. Awards for years of service were given to Robert Moro, 45 years; Christine Bombaci, 25 years; and Robin Jorgensen, 5 years.
