MALDEN, MA - A new Caribbean restaurant named "The Island" is moving into what was Ferry Street Food and Drink, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Ferry Street Food and Drink has appeared permanently closed on all fronts, with its online and social media pages gone and its windows papered over.
Ferry Street Food and Drink first opened in May of 2014, with the restaurant and bar saying, at the time, that it was "Malden's first and only gastropub." A link on the website for the spot had indicated that the space could be haunted, saying that a customer at the old Jimmy O'Keefe's Restaurant there "died in a slip down the basement stairs" and "is rumored to be seen sitting in his regular stool."
Ferry Street Food and Drink was at 118 Ferry Street. There is no word on when "The Island" will open.
