Housing Families has been awarded $15,000 To Assist Low-to-Moderate Income Malden Households in grant funding from the City of Malden’s Community Development Block Grant Program to support Malden families who are housing insecure and at-risk of eviction. HFI CEO Ed Cameron stated, “We are really appreciative of the support from Mayor Christenson, the City Council, and the Malden Redevelopment Authority to assist households at risk of eviction. The demand is great and the resources scarce, so this means a lot to us. And we also recognize that our Federal delegation including Congresswoman Clark, Congressman Capuano and Senators Markey and Warren have been strong advocates for this Federal funding that goes through cities and towns.”
In its mission to end family homelessness, over the last 30 years HFI has helped more than 3,600 families by preventing their homelessness or helping them make the transition out of shelter to permanent housing. HFI provides shelter to 100 homeless families and housing to 70 families each day in addition to serving 80 young children each week in its therapeutic after school G.R.E.A.T. Youth and Families Program.
