Malden Catholic School for Girls, Malden Arts, and The Zonta Club of Malden are proud to announce the opening of a new gallery that will exhibit the work of local artists. Located at 99 Crystal Street in Malden, this beautiful gallery boasts 80 feet of continuous exhibit space with beautiful natural light. Malden Arts will coordinate two exhibits per academic semester and encourage local artists to participate. Please join us for the inaugural gallery exhibit with an artist reception on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. featuring Watercolor Women by Faith Rice.
Faith developed an interest in visual art at an early age and participated in and received recognition in the Boston Globe Scholastic Achievement Awards as well as through other regional exhibits. Faith has studied with Edward Rice, Gary Tucker and Carolyn Latanision. Faith has worked in several paint mediums and more recently has been working in watercolors. The Watercolor Women collection was inspired by Faith's desire to discover the inner soul and character of each person she meets. This comes forth in the final rendering of each of the unique portraits. The collection will be displayed at the newly constructed Malden Catholic School for Girls. The school will launch this fall with 80 ninth-grade students and add a grade level annually over the next three years. The stunning, state of the art learning space was specifically designed enhance
collaboration, innovation and leadership in each student. The new school principal, Lisa Cenca, formerly the director of specialized learning at Malden Catholic, was named last spring. Her own personal passion for art as well as providing opportunities for young women was the catalyst for bringing the three sponsoring groups together. Malden Arts, The Zonta Club of Malden and Malden Catholic School for Girls share a unified mission for advancing the lives of women. Through this collection, the artist and the sponsors celebrate the gifts and talents of women from around the world.
The Zonta Club of Malden has served the Malden community for over 89 years. The Club is committed to improving the legal, political, economic, health, educational and professional status of women. Through service and advocacy, Zonta supports charitable organizations and causes, social justice and educational programs.
Malden Arts envisions a culturally vibrant City of Malden where each person’s life is enriched by experiencing, learning about, or creating art—and where artists and others find welcome, community, and inspiration. Malden Arts is expanding its presence by coordinating local galleries and infusing art into public environments. This will be their second new gallery this year with Idle Hands Brewery Gallery opening in May. Artists interested in exhibiting should contact Malden Arts at email@example.com
