Put Saturday, June 1st on your calendars for FoFH's 4th Annual Lantern Walk - our signature yearly event to honor the legacy of Fellsmere Park and the former Malden Hospital - to remember those who established a place for health and re-creation for our communities and to continue that legacy in the present and future. Festivities will commence at 5:30 pm to dusk, when we'll walk around Fellsmere Pond with our beautiful lanterns, a sight to behold and a fun way to celebrate our community spirit! We will have lantern making on-site and you're encouraged to get there by 5:30 pm to allow the lanterns time to dry before the walk -or- you may purchase a premade lantern for $5.
Artist Ginny Remedi-Brown will be hosting a lantern making workshop in advance of the event on May 20, 2019 from 2 - 7 pm at 21 Ivy Road in Malden. The workshop is free although a small donation is suggested, not required, to cover supplies. Please RSVP to RemediDesigns@gmail or call Ginny at 781-640-4741 for more info.
If you would like to host a table at the Lantern Walk or sponsor the event through a donation for that purpose, you may email us or contact Prisco Tammaro directly at 857-488-0577. As always, your contributions are tax-deductible, including those of you who would like to commit to being FoFH members through annual dues of $15 or more.
BAC SURVEY for MALDEN HOSPITAL
We'd also like to give you a quick status update re: our Boston Architectural College Gateway Initiative partnership, undertaken to study community-based, rather than developer-driven, redevelopment options for the former Malden Hospital. Our 10-student and faculty-led project team will be concluding their 2nd term in May and our public survey will close May 31st. If you haven't had a chance to take our survey for community-based options at the former Malden Hospital or know someone who would like to participate, please do so and spread the word!
The survey is in 6 languages: English, Chinese, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, available on our website. Survey results and a presentation of BAC's work-to-date will be announced, to take place this summer.
Thank you in advance for your support and participation! We look forward to meeting you and wish you a positive and productive spring season.
