Three Malden friends with an extra Red Sox ticket were off to the ballgame on July 16 when they spotted a homeless man named John.
Sean Wetzonis, Pedro Lugo and Francisco Rios ended up giving the ticket to John, then treated him to a beer and a fun evening.
The story then went viral as news outlets across the nation picked up the story about the act of kindness.
The owner of Blink Fitness, Steve Stabile, took notice of the story and was inspired by the young men. He decided he wanted to pay it forward by offering the fans a free one-year membership to any Blink Fitness location nationwide.
Pedro, Sean and Francisco were recently given a tour of the gym and free items as a small token of gratitude for their good deed. It just goes to show that it pays to do the right thing.
“These young men are a perfect example of the community’s values,” said Stabile, owner of Blink Fitness in Medford. “At Blink Fitness, we strive to give back whenever we can, so their act of kindness really caught our attention. We’re thrilled to call them members of the Blink family!”
Stabile also owns the Blink Fitness locations in Beverly and Medford and has plans to develop seven locations throughout Middlesex and Essex counties.
