We are excited to announce the 6th annual Cool Science Artwork Competition is now accepting entries.
Please share this invitation with parents, teachers, mentors, community members, and students who are interested in the arts and/or sciences. Cool Science is a free and public art competition held each fall for all K-12 students in Massachusetts. Cool Science is an award winning collaboration between the University of Massachusetts Lowell and the University of Massachusetts Boston. In February 2015, Cool Science was honored by the White House as an exemplar for improving climate literacy in local communities. This year, we are asking young people to answer one of the following questions with a visual work of art:
1. How are plants in Massachusetts being affected by climate change?
2. How does the changing climate affect extreme weather in New England?
3. What can we do to be ready for extreme weather events caused by climate change?
4. What inventions are people making to reduce the impacts of climate change?
Then, in January, we will select the best elementary, middle, and high school entries for display on public buses throughout the Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA) in the Spring of 2018. The honorees will be recognized at our annual Cool Science Award Ceremony and Reception which will be held on April 27, 2018 from 3-5 pm. See all past winners on either our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/coolsci, our twitter page https://twitter.com/cool_sci (@cool_sci), or our website. You should also visit our website for further information about the program (www.CoolScience.net).
We look forward to receiving lots of creative entries from your community by December 1, 2017!
