Shop Local Malden
The Malden Chamber of Commerce launched its “Shop Local Malden” initiative with the support of Mayor Gary Christenson at an open house event at the Chamber offices. Attendee’s enjoyed lunch refreshments, received “Shop Local Malden” canvas tote bags and Shop Local Malden Loyalty Cards.  The Shop Local Malden program was created by the Chamber to encourage its membership group of over 325 members to “Shop Local” for goods, services, dining and shopping within the Chamber membership and within the City of Malden.
The program started with the launch of a “Shop Local Malden” Loyalty Card Program to centralize member to member discounts via the new website: www.shoplocalmalden.org. Over 1000 “Loyalty Cards” are being distributed to Chamber members, members of Malden City Council and the Mayor’s office staff.  Card-holders can either scan the QR code on the back of the card or visit www.shoplocalmalden.org  for a full list of participating chamber businesses and offers. Offers range from discounts at local restaurants, to auto repair services to Mandarin classes and the amount of offers increases weekly as more members join the program. Chamber members offering a discount will receive a door decal to advertise their participation in the program.  Additionally the program will include quarterly/seasonal shopping guides on the website to highlight specific businesses within the membership and a special “Shop Local Malden” section in the chambers bi-monthly email blast highlighting “limited time specials.” The Chamber hopes to eventually extend the program to the general public.
Paul Murphy Insurance, Tony’s Auto Body, Minuteman Press of Malden, Malden YMCA, Hub Starters, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, Everett Credit Union, Alpine Landscape Company, United Truck and Auto Service and the Mayor Gary Christenson have signed on as “Founding Sponsors” of the program to help support its creation.
