| Summer 2011 - Home sales boosted - Posted by Joe Cassia June 10, 2011 9:15AM Sale of single-family homes in Malden rose in May compared to the same period last year, but the overall number of purchases and the average price of each slid, according to recent statistics. New numbers from the Warren Group, a Boston-based real estate tracking firm, show 18 homes sold in May, compared to 13 in 2010. Condominium sales also took a hit, with 6 sales in May, compared to 10 last year. Overall, units placed under agreement since January declined a third, to 32, from 48 last year. The average price for a condo declined about 12 percent overall. Home sale prices also decreased about 3 3/4 percent, according to the report. |
