Mayor Christenson welcomed Eagle Scouts Alex Cogliano, Mason and Liam Burne to City Hall to present them with citations for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. All three young men impressed the Mayor with their projects. Alex Cogliano installed a Little Library at Fellsmere Pond. Mason Burne worked to construct a new trail loop at the summit of High Rock Park. Liam Burne worked with the Somerville YMCA to make masks for preschool aged children.

The City & Malden PD initiated a Community Clinician Integration Program. This effort was led by Councillor Peg Crowe who partnered with Eliot CHS to secure the grants. The funding provides mental health and crisis intervention training as well as a licensed clinician who is integrated within the Police Dept & assisting officers.

Malden receives  funding under the State's Shared Streets & Spaces program. Malden will use its $491,000 grant to build dedicated bus and bike lanes on Centre St between Main St & the Malden Center Orange Line station.

Firefighters Acknowledged for Fellsmere Pond Rescue

Employees at the Dept of Public Works were delivered a sweet surprise - packages of chocolate chip cookies provided by Cookies for Caregivers Boston in appreciation of the DPW employees’ continued work during the pandemic. From snow and trash removal, to maintenance and upkeep of street and sidewalk repairs, the DPW is 24/7 & Cookies for Caregivers Boston acknowledged and personally thanked employees for their service and commitment to the community.

Mayor Christenson said I 'racked' my brain on how to announce this new business so I took my 'cue' from Biao Ge Pool Hall because it 'felt' right. Don't 'chalk' it up to mere hype but make a 'breakand ride the 'rails' to 77 Exchange St to see this pool hall.

Mayor Christenson recently attended the grand opening ceremony of Beca Shoes, 242 Main St. Beca Shoes prides itself on providing customers with quality service, care and respect along with the style, comfort and fair pricing of shoes coming straight from Brazil. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday 10AM-7PM.

Mayor Christenson recently attended a ribbon cutting for a new office of Triangle, Inc. at 157 Pleasant S. This location will serve as Triangle’s hub for individual job seekers & referrals from the Mass Rehabilitation Comm and the Dept of Transitional Assistance along with a new Testing Center that will provide a variety of tests for job seekers.
